Neuropsychological assessment in the multicultural memory clinic: Development and feasibility of the TULIPA battery

Summary: This study aimed to develop a new neuropsychological test battery for culturally diverse populations and investigate its feasibility. The results showed that the completion rates of the test battery were generally high, but supplementary tests were administered less frequently. Complicating factors such as suboptimal effort, fatigue, and depression were frequently observed.

Validation of a brief cross-cultural cognitive screening test in Multiple Sclerosis

Summary: This study validated the Cross-Cultural Dementia screening test (CCD) for cognitive impairment screening in multiple sclerosis patients, demonstrating its advantages over other commonly used cognitive tests in clinical practice. The CCD showed very clear differentiation in all subtests, and had high correlations with other standardized neuropsychological tests.

Multiculturalism: A Challenge for Cognitive Screeners in Parkinson's Disease

Summary: Patients in the International group performed worse on both the MoCA and DRS-2, with the Historical Index of Human Development fully mediating the group effect on the DRS-2. Diagnostic precision of the MoCA was poor in the International group, compared to the DRS-II in this group and the MoCA in the Anglosphere group. These results suggest caution should be taken when using cognitive screeners for PD-MCI in all patients, especially first generation immigrants.

Cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment in the European Union: a Delphi expert study

Summary: This study examined the current state of cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment in EU-15 countries and provided recommendations for researchers and policy makers. The priorities identified were the development of tests, collection of normative data, and increased training and awareness regarding cross-cultural assessment among neuropsychologists in the EU. Recommendations were made for essential skills and knowledge necessary for cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment, with suggestions for follow-up studies involving more minority neuropsychologists and community stakeholders.
