Patient-reported outcomes associated with transition to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis

Summary: Patients transitioning from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) showed deficits in Quality of Life (QOL) and fatigue prior to the transition. During the transition, patients worsened in terms of SF-36 Role Physical, Social Functioning, and Physical Component Summary. Compared to matched subjects, transitioning patients had worse scores on outcomes including Physical Functioning, Physical Component Summary, fatigue, and depression.
