Insight into the Structural, Mechanical and Optoelectronic Properties of Ternary Cubic Barium-Based BaMCl3 (M = Ag, Cu) Chloroperovskites Compounds

Mudasser Husain et al.

Summary: In this research, first-principle computation using the WIEN2K package was conducted to explore the structural, electronic, mechanical, and optical properties of barium-based chloroperovskites BaMCl3 (M = Ag, Cu) compounds. The optimized lattice constants were calculated as 9.90 Bohr for BaAgCl3 and 9.38 Bohr for BaCuCl3. The results showed that both compounds had semiconducting nature with indirect band gaps of 1.173 eV and 2.30 eV, respectively. The elastic properties analysis revealed that these chloroperovskites were anisotropic, mechanically stable, hard to scratch, and ductile. The optical analysis indicated that these compounds were good light absorbers in the range of 5 to 25 eV incident photon energy, making them suitable for optoelectronic devices in high-frequency applications.

Generating multiple resonances in ultrathin silicon for highly selective THz biosensing

Mohd Salman Khan et al.

Summary: This study presents a technique for achieving multiband terahertz absorption with high-quality factor using an ultrathin silicon resonator. By perturbing the silicon layer symmetrically, multiple electric and magnetic resonances were obtained. The proposed absorber structure offers a polarization insensitive absorption spectrum and has the potential for applications in THz biosensing.

Optoelectronic and elastic properties of metal halides double perovskites Cs2InBiX6 (X = F, Cl, Br, I)

Muhammad Saeed et al.

Summary: In this study, the structural geometry, electronic band gaps, density of states, optical and mechanical properties of double perovskite halides Cs2InBiX6 (X = F, Cl, Br, I) were investigated using density functional theory. The compounds exhibit narrow band gaps, influenced by substitution of halogen atoms, and meet the stability criteria in cubic structures.
