A high compatibility finger vein image quality assessment system based on deep learning

Hengyi Ren et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a finger vein image quality evaluation method driven by improving the recognition performance of the recognition system and based on the possibility of the false rejection of low-quality images. The method uses statistical knowledge to automatically determine the image quality and classify it. Additionally, a lightweight convolutional neural network is designed to train the high-quality and low-quality images, and common attributes between low-quality images are mined to ensure accurate and quick prediction of image quality in practical use.

Predicting stock price trends based on financial news articles and using a novel twin support vector machine with fuzzy hyperplane

Pei-Yi Hao et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method to extract hidden topic models and emotional information from news articles, as well as a novel fuzzy twin support vector machine for predicting stock price trends by merging large volumes of online news. Using fuzzy set theory, the decision function is generalized to handle outliers effectively, making the model more robust than other methods. The membership grade estimated by the fuzzy decision boundary provides better insight into the degree of confidence in predicted outputs, which is crucial for decision-making applications.

Bayesian analysis of time-varying interactions between stock returns and foreign equity flows

Boubekeur Baba et al.

Summary: This study examines the trading behavior of foreign investors in the South Korean stock market with regard to economic uncertainty from a time-varying perspective. The findings suggest that positive feedback trading is prominent during high economic uncertainty, while negative feedback trading is observed during periods of low uncertainty. Foreign investors tend to respond timely to economic uncertainty, with lagged reactions to uncertainty shocks. They also exhibit an asymmetric response to negative and positive shocks of economic uncertainty, turning quickly to positive feedback trading after a negative response of net flows to shocks, and slowly moving towards negative feedback trading after a positive response.
