The Nesprin-1/-2 ortholog ANC-1 regulates organelle positioning in C. elegans independently from its KASH or actin-binding domains

Hongyan Hao et al.

Summary: KASH proteins in the outer nuclear membrane connect nuclei to the cytoskeleton, while ANC-1 in Caenorhabditis elegans plays an important role in this process. Deletion of KASH or CH domains does not completely disrupt nuclear positioning, indicating they are not essential. Deletion in the spectrin-like region of ANC-1 leads to significant defects and replicates the null phenotype only when combined with mutations in the transmembrane span.
