Visible light-driven photodegradation of ciprofloxacin over sol-gel prepared Bi2O3-modified La-doped NaTaO3 nanostructures

A. S. Basaleh et al.

Summary: The rise of antibiotic waste in water has become a pressing issue for both human health and the environment. In this study, a sol-gel amalgamation of nanocrystalline La-doped NaTaO3 perovskites modified with Bi2O3 showed promising results in photocatalytic degradation of the emergent antibiotic ciprofloxacin. The close junction of Bi2O3 and NaTaO3 contributed to improved photoinduced charge transfer and energy bandgap suppression, leading to efficient removal of antibiotics through visible-light irradiation.
