Testing Bell inequalities in Higgs boson decays

Alan J. Barr

Summary: The decay of Higgs boson can produce pairs of W bosons in a maximally entangled state, whose spin may violate Bell inequalities. Experimental reconstruction of the spin density matrix of the W-+/- pair shows near-maximal violation of the CGLMP inequality. Bell tests can be performed at various colliders, and statistically significant violations may be observable with controlled reconstruction effects and backgrounds.

Breaking down the entire spectrum of spin correlations of a pair of particles involving fermions and gauge bosons

Rafiqul Rahaman et al.

Summary: We discuss a formalism for spin correlations and polarizations in two-particle systems with different spins. The formalism is demonstrated in the processes e-e+-> t t over line, gb -> tW-, and e-e+ -> ZZ in the standard model. We investigate the effect of anomalous couplings on polarizations and spin correlations in these processes and compare their strengths. The results show that spin correlations have the potential to provide a significant improvement over polarizations in probing anomalous couplings.

Quantum information with top quarks in QCD

Yoav Afik et al.

Summary: The paper presents the general framework of the quantum state of a top-antitop quark pair produced through quantum chromodynamics in a high-energy collider. It discusses the presence of entanglement and CHSH violation in different regions of phase space and provides experimental observables for these signatures. The validity of the quantum tomography protocol for top-antitop pair is extended to more general quantum states and any production mechanism.

Quantum SMEFT tomography: Top quark pair production at the LHC

Rafael Aoude et al.

Summary: This study utilizes quantum information observables to probe the structure of fundamental interactions and search for new high energy physics. By investigating the effects of higher-dimensional operators in the Standard Model effective field theory on the Standard Model expectations, we find that higher-dimensional effects decrease the entanglement predicted in the Standard Model.

Improved tests of entanglement and Bell inequalities with LHC tops

J. A. Aguilar-Saavedra et al.

Summary: We discuss quantum entanglement in top pair production at the LHC. By restricting the velocity of the top pair system, we enhance the observables of entanglement. Furthermore, we design new observables that directly measure the relevant combinations of spin correlation coefficients involved in the measurement of entanglement and Bell inequalities. The statistical sensitivity is enhanced, up to a factor of 7 for Bell inequalities near threshold.

Quantum tops at the LHC: from entanglement to Bell inequalities

Claudio Severi et al.

Summary: This study presents the prospects of detecting quantum entanglement and the violation of Bell inequalities in (t)(t) events at the LHC. Using simulated events and unfolding techniques, the research finds that entanglement can be established accurately, but testing Bell inequalities is more challenging.

Testing Bell Inequalities at the LHC with Top-Quark Pairs

M. Fabbrichesi et al.

Summary: Correlations between spin of top-quark pairs at a collider can be used to probe quantum entanglement at unexplored energies. A single observable can test the violation of Bell inequality with different confidence levels, taking into account detector effects. This test relies solely on spin correlations and does not require probabilistic determinations.

Entanglement and quantum tomography with top quarks at the LHC

Yoav Afik et al.

Summary: This research proposes the detection of entanglement between the spins of top-antitop-quark pairs at the LHC, representing the first proposal of entanglement detection in a pair of quarks, and also the entanglement observation at the highest energy scale so far. The study shows that entanglement can be observed by direct measurement of the angular separation between the leptons arising from the decay of the top-antitop pair, and develops a simple protocol for the quantum tomography of the top-antitop pair.
