Androgen ReceptoreMediated Paracrine Signaling Induces Regression of Blood Vessels in the Dermal Papilla in Androgenetic Alopecia

Zhili Deng et al.

Summary: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is associated with androgen and androgen receptor (AR) signaling, but the pathogenesis of AGA remains largely unknown. This study reveals that AR is elevated in the nuclear localization of dermal papilla (DP) cells in balding scalp of AGA patients. Transcriptome analysis shows microvascular abnormalities in the DP of balding scalp compared to non-balding scalp of AGA patients. Moreover, blood vessels regress in the DP of balding scalp at the early stage of hair follicle miniaturization in AGA development. The study also demonstrates the requirement of angiogenesis for hair regeneration in mice, and shows that AR-mediated paracrine signaling induces apoptosis of microvascular endothelial cells in the DP of balding scalp of AGA, mainly through TGFb signaling.

Hordenine inhibits neuroinflammation and exerts neuroprotective effects via inhibiting NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways in vivo and in vitro

Yingchun Su et al.

Summary: Parkinson's disease is a common disease caused by degeneration of the central nervous system, characterized by the death of dopaminergic neurons. Neuroinflammation, particularly the excessive activation of microglia, plays a significant role in its pathogenesis. Hordenine has been found to have anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and this study reveals its potential in inhibiting neuroinflammation by suppressing microglial activation and protecting dopaminergic neurons.

Cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside suppresses DHT-induced dermal papilla cell senescence by modulating p38-dependent ER-mitochondria contacts

Young Hyun Jung et al.

Summary: The study found that cyanidin effectively reduced DHT-induced mtROS accumulation in DPCs, reversed DHT-induced DPC senescence, and inhibited excessive mitochondrial calcium accumulation. Cyanidin also blocked MAM formation by inhibiting p38-mediated VDAC1 expression, ultimately reducing DPC senescence caused by DHT.

Dermal papilla cells and melanocytes response to physiological oxygen levels depends on their interactions

Carla M. Abreu et al.

Summary: The study showed that under 5% oxygen levels, human dermal papilla cells and melanocytes exhibited improved physiological state and phenotype, with interactions between them enhancing hair growth and pigmentation. The findings provide important insights for research on hair regeneration.

An Approach to Patients with Alopecia

Taylor A. Jamerson et al.

Summary: Hair loss is more than just a cosmetic issue, it can also be a sign of underlying systemic conditions. Comprehensive clinical evaluation and appropriate treatment are essential to address both patient dissatisfaction and the identification of medically significant conditions. A detailed patient history and physical examination play a key role in distinguishing between different forms of alopecia.

Hordenine Protects Against Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Acute Lung Injury by Inhibiting Inflammation

Xiyue Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that hordenine (Hor) can inhibit lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury (ALI) by alleviating the disease through anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Hor can suppress the increase in inflammatory cytokine levels and exert its effects by regulating multiple signaling pathways.
