Electrochemical CO2 Reduction on Polycrystalline Copper by Modulating Proton Transfer with Fluoropolymer Composites

Hanqing Pan et al.

Summary: Electrochemical reduction of CO2 to alcohols and hydrocarbon fuels offers a sustainable pathway for mitigating atmospheric CO2 while generating value-added products. The selectivity of Cu-based CO2 reduction electrocatalysts can be tuned by controlling proton-transfer dynamics, resulting in higher yields of desirable carbon-containing products.

Approaching intrinsic dynamics of MXenes hybrid hydrogel for 3D printed multimodal intelligent devices with ultrahigh superelasticity and temperature sensitivity

Haodong Liu et al.

Summary: Hydrogels are widely studied for flexible sensors in wearable electronics, but their further application is hindered by the ambiguity of sensing mechanisms and the challenges in multi-functionalization. In this study, a cost-effective direct ink writing technique is used to fabricate a 2D MXene bonded hydrogel sensor, which demonstrates excellent strain and temperature sensing performance. The sensing mechanisms are clarified using finite element analysis and in situ temperature-dependent Raman technology.

Intrinsic Defect-Rich Graphene Coupled Cobalt Phthalocyanine for Robust Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide

Fengxia Liang et al.

Summary: Introducing intrinsic defects into graphene promotes pi electron transfer between the carbon matrix and cobalt phthalocyanine, leading to higher efficiency in electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction. Conducting the reaction in an ionic liquid-based electrolyte further enhances both the Faradaic efficiency and CO current density.

The role of electrode wettability in electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide

Mengran Li et al.

Summary: The wettability of the electrode plays a crucial role in CO2RR by affecting the reactivity, selectivity, and stability of the electrode. Improving cathode performance by altering the wettability of the catalyst layer in gas-diffusion electrodes can lead to more efficient CO2RR. Current challenges and opportunities lie in developing efficient and selective cathodes for CO2RR at industrially relevant rates.

Nitrogen dopant induced highly selective CO2 reduction over lotus-leaf shaped ZnO nanorods

Fang Lu et al.

Summary: Nitrogen-doped ZnO nanorods with a lotus-leaf shape show enhanced CO2RR performance, with a maximum CO faradaic efficiency of 76% and durable activity exceeding 30 hours. Density functional calculations reveal that nitrogen doping reduces the free-energy barrier for key intermediate formation and enhances electron exchange, leading to notable improvement in CO2RR activity.
