Neural Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes Regulate Neural Stem Cell Differentiation Through miR-9-Hes1 Axis

Ping Yuan et al.

Summary: Exosomes, important components of the central nervous system microenvironment, are involved in intercellular communication by transferring bioactive molecules. Recent research shows that exosomes derived from neural stem cells can facilitate the differentiation of NSCs by transferring miR-9, which sheds light on potential cell-free therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases. Further studies identified Hes1 as a downstream target of miR-9 in this process.

Mitotic WNT signalling orchestrates neurogenesis in the developing neocortex

Fabio Da Silva et al.

Summary: This study reveals the critical role of WNT/STOP signaling in mouse neocortex development, promoting neurogenesis by stabilizing neurogenic transcription factors Sox4 and Sox11 in basal progenitors during mitosis. The findings suggest that mitosis is a key phase for neural progenitor fate.

Extracellular vesicles from neurons promote neural induction of stem cells through cyclin D1

Lu Song et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from differentiated cells can promote neural induction of stem cells, with Cyclin D1 playing a key role in this process. EVs overexpressing Cyclin D1 show enhanced potency in neural induction, while depletion of Cyclin D1 from EVs reduces this effect.

Summary: This study tracks the intracellular trafficking of two proteins before their secretion in EVs, reporting the biogenesis and protein markers of EV subtypes: ectosomes budding from the plasma membrane as well as exosomes from late endosomes.
