Electrochemical Mechanistic Analysis from Cyclic Voltammograms Based on Deep Learning

Benjamin B. Hoar et al.

Summary: This article introduces a deep-learning-based algorithm that automatically analyzes cyclic voltammograms and determines the probable electrochemical mechanism. The algorithm aids researchers in mechanistic analysis, allows observation of gradual mechanism transitions in electrochemistry, and enables analysis of complex electrochemical systems and high-throughput research with minimal human interference.

Electronic Properties of Short Polynucleotides Studied Using Schottky Junctions

Souhad M. A. Daraghma et al.

Summary: DNA, the blueprint of life, has attracted recent attention in its potential applications in electronics. Through experimental and theoretical studies, a better understanding of the electronic properties of DNA, particularly in the charge transfer process, has been achieved. This research provides a clearer conceptualization of the role of each nitrogenous base in the charge transfer process through the DNA molecule.

A screen-printed Ag/AgCl reference electrode with long-term stability for electroanalytical applications

Rebecca C. Dawkins et al.

Summary: In this study, a screen-printed Ag/AgCl true reference electrode with offset salt reservoir on a flexible substrate was developed for use in disposable, low-cost sensor arrays, demonstrating good stability and potential over an extended period. The use of a solid-state electrolyte and PDMS junction membrane effectively suppressed drift, while the electrode showed stability across different pH values and insensitivity to most interfering ionic species.

Electrochemical Performance of Lithographically-Defined Micro-Electrodes for Integration and Device Applications

Zohreh Hirbodvash et al.

Summary: Lithographically-defined metallic micro-electrodes are investigated experimentally through cyclic voltammetry measurements, generating concentration curves for potassium ferricyanide. The importance of burn-in for stabilizing electrodes is demonstrated, showing its significance before use in electrochemical sensing devices.

Redox Buffering Effects in Potentiometric Detection of DNA Using Thiol-Modified Gold Electrodes

Xingxing Xu et al.

Summary: Label-free potentiometric detection of DNA molecules using a field-effect transistor (FET) with a gold gate offers a platform for rapid, straightforward, and inexpensive analyses of nucleic acid samples. The potential of the gold-sensing electrode is determined by the mixed potential of the gold-thiol and gold-oxygen redox interactions, creating a redox buffer effect that suppresses the potentiometric signal induced by DNA hybridization. Similar redox buffer effects may be present in other types of potentiometric detections of biomarkers based on thiol-gold chemistry.
