ULTRASONIC THROUGH-TRANSMISSION MEASUREMENTS OF HUMAN MUSCULOSKELETAL AND FAT PROPERTIES

Summary: The study aimed to assess the feasibility of using ultrasonic through-transmission technique to estimate human musculoskeletal and fat properties. The measurements were significantly correlated with bone mineral density (BMD) and muscle and fat mass. Muscle and fat mass significantly contributed to the prediction of transmission parameters, independently of BMD. The results suggest that this technique could aid in the clinical diagnosis of skeletal and muscular system diseases.
