Spectroscopy along flerovium decay chains. II. Fine structure in odd-A 289Fl

D. M. Cox et al.

Summary: Fifteen correlated alpha-decay chains starting from the odd-A superheavy nucleus 289Fl were observed, indicating the existence of parallel alpha-decay sequences and different spin-parity assignments in close-lying levels. The ground-state spin assignment was found to change between (285)Cn and (281)Ds based on observed coincidences and fine structure analysis. These experimental results provide a direct testing ground for theory and are compared with new nuclear structure calculations.

On the adsorption and reactivity of element 114, flerovium

A. Yakushev et al.

Summary: Flerovium (Fl, element 114) is the heaviest element studied so far, and its interaction with gold has been experimentally investigated. The results suggest that Flerovium exhibits volatile-metal-like properties and shows relatively low reactivity on gold surfaces.

Summary: The experiment successfully studied the α-decay chains of isotopes of flerovium, observing an excited state in the heavy element 282Cn and the Q(alpha) value of 288Fl, with implications on the anticipated shell gap at Z=114.

Low-Energy Nuclear Excitations along the α-Decay Chains of Superheavy 292Lv and 294Og

J. Luis Egido et al.

Summary: The first triaxial beyond-mean-field study of the excitation spectra of even-even superheavy nuclei was conducted, focusing on the alpha-decay chains of (292)Lv and (294)Og. Configuration-mixing calculations were performed to predict the collective band structures and characteristics of these nuclei, with discussion on the prospect of observing alpha-decay fine structures in future experiments.
