In this study, the mechanical properties of SCGADUB1180 high-strength sheet were determined and the effects of various parameters on springback were experimentally investigated. The results showed that the springback values increased with an increase in punch speed at different bending angles. A decrease in springback was observed with an increase in holding time. The experimental results obtained will contribute to understanding the springback behavior of high strength sheets in the bending process.
High strength and light high strength steels are widely used in the automotive industry. Springback is as important a problem as tearing and thinning in the shaping of high-strength sheets. In this study, the mechanical properties of SCGADUB1180 high-strength sheet were determined by performing tensile tests and the effects of punch speed, die angle, holding time, rolling direction parameters on springback were experimentally investigated in the V bending process. No research has been found in the literature on the shaping and springback behavior of SCGADUB1180 high strength sheet. As a result of the test results, as the punch speed increased, the springback values increased at 60 degrees, 90 degrees and 120 degrees bending angles. When punch speed increased from 3 mm/sec to 10 mm/sec at 60 degrees bend angle, springback increased 1.87% in 0 degrees rolling direction, 0.35% in 45 degrees rolling direction and 9.78% in 90 degrees rolling direction. When punch speed increased from 3 mm/sec to 10 mm/sec at 90 degrees bend angle, springback increased 5.87% in 0 degrees rolling direction, 0.55% in 45 degrees rolling direction and 4.77% in 90 degrees rolling direction. When punch speed increased from 3 mm/sec to 10 mm/sec at 120 degrees bend angle, springback increased 27% in 0 degrees rolling direction, 0.49% in 45 degrees rolling direction, and 3.5% in 90 degrees rolling direction. Springback values are lowest at 3 mm/sec punch speed. When the holding time was increased from 0.2 s to 1 s, the springback value decreased by 5.56%. The least springbacks were observed in the O degrees rolling direction. The amount of springback increased with increasing die angle. The experimental results obtained will help to predict the springback behavior of high strength sheets and to understand their mechanical behavior in the bending process.
