The findings indicated that residents' perceptions of CPEC benefits positively influenced their perceived destination image (RPDI) and pro-tourism development behavior (PTDB). Furthermore, the study found that residents' perceived costs of CPEC had a positive impact on RPDI but a negative relationship with PTDB, with RPDI partially mediating between perceived CPEC benefits and PTDB and fully mediating between perceived CPEC costs and PTDB.
