Different modalities exhibited significant differences in performance for diagnosing fibrosis, while the diagnosis of liver steatosis showed good performance. Validations of the AI-assisted systems' performances are necessary before their clinical implementation.

Technical feasibility and correlations between shear-wave elastography and histology in kidney fibrosis in children

Two-Dimensional Shear-Wave Elastography for Kidney Stiffness Assessment

Summary: This study utilized bidimensional shear-wave elastography to measure kidney shear-wave velocity (KSWV) for renal assessment and prediction of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The results showed significantly lower KSWV values in CKD patients compared to healthy volunteers, with a cutoff value of below 1.47 m/s predicting the presence of CKD with good sensitivity and specificity. Moreover, KSWV tended to decrease with CKD progression.
