Relationship between Cancer Diagnosis and Complications Following Pancreatoduodenectomy for Duodenal Adenoma

Nina L. Eng et al.

Summary: Preoperative biopsy of duodenal adenomas has a high false-negative rate for malignancy, and pancreatoduodenectomy for duodenal adenoma is associated with higher complication rates compared to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. These findings suggest careful consideration should be given when deciding between observation and pancreatoduodenectomy for duodenal adenoma patients, especially in younger patients without biliary obstruction.

Long-term outcomes of endoscopic papillectomy for early-stage cancer in duodenal ampullary adenoma: Comparison to surgical treatment

Jun Seong Hwang et al.

Summary: The study showed that endoscopic papillectomy followed by endoscopic surveillance had long-term outcomes comparable to surgical resection for early ampullary cancer, providing a potential curative alternative for incidentally found early-stage ampullary cancer, especially in patients not suitable for or refusing radical surgery. No significant differences were observed between patient groups in tumor characteristics and clinical outcomes.
