Experimental investigation into efficiency of SiO2/water-based nanofluids in photovoltaic thermal systems using response surface methodology

Kadir Gelis et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of nanofluids on the electrical and thermal efficiency of photovoltaic thermal systems (PVT) using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The experimental results showed that the flow rate, nanofluid volumetric concentration, and solar radiation were the most influential parameters affecting the thermal and electrical efficiency. The mathematical models developed based on the experimental outcomes successfully verified the performance of the PVT system in terms of electrical and thermal efficiencies.

Experimental investigations on unglazed photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) system using water and nanofluid cooling medium

Govind S. Menon et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the electrical and thermal performance of an unglazed photovoltaic thermal system with a serpentine coil setup and compared the effects of water and copper oxide-based nanofluid cooling. The results showed that the nanofluid-cooled system had higher thermal efficiency, overall efficiency, and achieved the highest energy-saving efficiency.

Effect of using saturated hydrogel beads with alumina water-based nanofluid for cooling solar panels: Experimental study with economic analysis

Saber Abdo et al.

Summary: The research demonstrates that using Al2O3 water-based nanofluid-saturated hydrogels can significantly reduce the temperature of solar panels, improve power generation efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions. In terms of performance and cost-effectiveness, the 0.5% weight concentration performs best, but due to the high price of nano materials, the 0.25% weight concentration is the optimal economical choice.

Investigation of Thermal Performance of Single Basin Solar Still With Soft Drink Cans Filled With Sand as a Storage Medium

A. M. Khallaf et al.

Summary: The thermal performance of the single basin solar still with a sensible storage material is studied both experimentally and theoretically. A mathematical model is developed using Pascal language to verify the performance. Comparisons between experimental and theoretical results are made to validate the model, showing that the SBSS with sand has higher top losses, daily productivity, and efficiency compared to the one without sand. The experiment is also environmentally friendly by utilizing used soft drink cans.

Thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity of mono and hybrid organic- and synthetic-based nanofluids: A critical review

At -Tasneem Mohd Amin et al.

Summary: Thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity are critical properties of nanofluids that can be controlled by adjusting the normalized concentration, bulk temperature, and nanoparticle size. While most nanofluids enhance thermal conductivity ratio by 20%, synthetic nanofluids with added carbon nanoparticles increased it by less than 10%.
