Electric current on surface of a metal/superconductor in axion/hidden-photon background

Yasuhiro Kishimoto et al.

Summary: We investigate the electric current induced on the surface of a normal metal or superconductor by bosonic dark matter, such as axions or hidden photons, taking into account the boundary condition of the electric and magnetic fields. We also discuss the possibility of detecting such electric currents.

Searches for light dark matter using condensed matter systems

Yonatan Kahn et al.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive introduction to the direct detection of keV-GeV dark matter using condensed matter systems. The article discusses the challenges of achieving a kinematic match between light dark matter and the target, highlighting the importance of condensed matter physics. The review also covers the theoretical treatment of dark matter-nucleon and dark matter-electron interactions, as well as recent developments in detector technology.

Sensitivity of Parity-Violating Electron Scattering to a Dark Photon

A. W. Thomas et al.

Summary: The paper examines the sensitivity of the parity-violating electron scattering asymmetry to the properties of a dark photon, and explores its impact on both elastic and deep-inelastic scattering. With recent advancements in experimental capabilities, there is potential for discovering new physics through PVES, as well as a potential for altering our understanding of atomic nuclei, neutron stars, and parton distribution functions through the existence of a dark photon.

New way to limit the interaction of dark matter with baryons

Abraham Loeb

Summary: There has been a recent resurgence of interest in restricting the interaction between dark matter particles and known particles. The author proposes a novel approach to set upper limits on the coupling of ions or electrons to dark matter particles of any mass, using Faraday's Law in a spinning conductor.

Dark Matter Search Results from the PandaX-4T Commissioning Run

Yue Meng et al.

Summary: Dark matter search results using PandaX-4T commissioning data showed no significant excess over background, setting a stringent limit for dark matter-nucleon spin-independent interactions with the lowest excluded cross section at a dark matter mass of 40 GeV/c(2) at 3.8 x 10(-47) cm(2) (90% C.L.).

Search for Invisible Axion Dark Matter in the 3.3-4.2 μeV Mass Range

C. Bartram et al.

Summary: Our experiment reported results from a haloscope search for axion dark matter, excluding the axion-photon coupling predicted by a benchmark model. The sensitivity was achieved through the use of a large-volume cavity, a superconducting magnet, an ultra low noise Josephson parametric amplifier, and subKelvin temperatures. The validity of the detection procedure was ensured by injecting and detecting blind synthetic axion signals.

Axion-radiation conversion by super and normal conductors

Aiichi Iwazaki

Summary: The proposed method utilizes superconductors under a strong magnetic field to detect dark matter axions by inducing oscillating electric fields. The study shows that the electric field induced in superconductors is essentially identical to that in vacuum, leading to a hundredfold increase in radiation flux compared to normal conductors. Additionally, using superconducting resonant cavities can generate radiation energy two times larger than that in normal conducting resonant cavities.
