All-printed and stretchable organic electrochemical transistors using a hydrogel electrolyte

Chi-Hyeong Kim et al.

Summary: Stretchable organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) were fabricated by printing all device components, with a printed planar gate electrode and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel electrolyte used to achieve the stretchability of the whole device. Stretchable silver paste provided the necessary flexibility without additional strategies to enhance the stretchability of metallic components. The resulting OECTs exhibited comparable performance to inkjet or screen-printed OECTs, with maximum transconductance and on/off ratio of 1.04 +/- 0.13 mS and 830, respectively. Stable for 50 days and able to withstand up to 110% tensile strain, these devices are suitable for wearable electronics and pave the way for all-printed and stretchable transistors in wearable bioelectronics.

Advances and prospects of PVDF based polymer electrolytes

Yixin Wu et al.

Summary: Developing highly foldable batteries with no safety hazard is crucial for portable, wearable, and implantable electric devices. Solid-state batteries, particularly those based on PVDF electrolytes, show great potential, but also face challenges such as lower ionic conductivity and lack of reactive groups. Recent research has focused on gel polymer electrolytes and all solid polymer electrolytes based on PVDF to address these issues.

Flexible organic ion-gated transistors with low operating voltage and light-sensing application

Mona Azimi et al.

Summary: Ion-gated transistors based on organic materials, such as PCDTPT and an ionic liquid, show promising electrical characteristics on both rigid and flexible substrates. The flexible devices exhibit good mechanical stability and only a slight decrease in mobility after repetitive bending cycles. Flexible photodetectors based on these ion-gated transistors demonstrate high photosensitivity and photoresponsivity values.
