Numerical study on influence of water based hybrid nanofluid and porous media on heat transfer and pressure loss

S. Sivasankaran et al.

Summary: This study investigates the convective heat transfer and pressure loss of TiO2-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid and porous media in a double-pipe heat exchanger. The results show that the hybrid nanofluid increases the heat transfer but also increases the pressure loss. Equations for calculating the Nusselt number and friction factor of the hybrid nanofluid in empty and porous pipes are proposed for the first time.

Evaluation of thermal performance factor by hybrid nanofluid and twisted tape inserts in heat exchanger

Noor Fouad et al.

Summary: The thermal performance parameters of an improved heat exchanger tube with various vortex generator inserts were investigated using numerical and experimental methods. The tube equipped with a double V-cut twisted tape and hybrid nanofluid displayed increased thermal performance compared to a plain twisted tape. The greater vortex flow induced by the V-cuts resulted in more active thermal boundary layer disturbance and a higher heat transfer rate.

Numerical simulation of nanofluid turbulent flow in a double-pipe heat exchanger equipped with circular fins

Summary: This study indicates that in a circular finned double-pipe heat exchanger, simplifying the design can enhance the heat transfer efficiency of nanofluids, but the thermal performance of non-Newtonian fluids decreases when inserts are used.

Upgrading the performance of a new shell and helically coiled heat exchanger by using longitudinal fins

Azim Dogus Tuncer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of adding fins on the thermal performance of a horizontal shell and helically coiled tube heat exchanger. Results show that integrating fins over the coil can increase turbulence intensity and improve heat transfer, with an average improvement of 10% in the heat transfer coefficient. The overall heat transfer coefficient can be enhanced by an average of 10.6% by adding fins, with the highest improvement reaching 15%.
