ZSM-5 core-shell structured catalyst for enhancing low-temperature NH3-SCR efficiency and poisoning resistance

Zhaoying Di et al.

Summary: By constructing a core-shell ZSM-5@CeO2 support and loading copper, the NH3-SCR performance, as well as the tolerance to H2O and SO2, was improved. The Cu/(ZSM-5@CeO2) catalyst showed superior activity with the lowest T-90 at 215°C, attributed to the interaction between CeO2 shell and copper ions, which enhanced the redox properties. The ZSM-5 core provided more acid sites for improved ammonia adsorption. The CeO2 shell preferentially reacted with SO2, leading to high sulfur tolerance. This study provides a strategy for designing and applying NH3-SCR zeolite catalysts.

Revealing the Synergistic Deactivation Mechanism of Hydrothermal Aging and SO2 Poisoning on Cu/SSZ-13 under SCR Condition

Yani Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the synergistic deactivation mechanism of hydrothermal aging and SO2 poisoning on Cu/SSZ-13 under SCR condition. Hydrothermal aging induces more severe degradation of SCR performance, and the presence of SO2 during hydrothermal aging causes further worse SCR performance. Hydrothermal aging damages Si-OH-Al sites and induces the formation of CuO/CuAlOx species, while SO2 poisoning promotes the transformation of ZCuOH to Z(2)Cu.

Summary: By coating a thin Al2O3 modification layer on the external surface of Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst using a chemical liquid deposition method, the hydrothermal durability of the catalyst is improved. The Al-modified Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst maintains high-temperature SCR activity and inhibits the over-oxidation of NH3.

SO2- and H2O-Tolerant Catalytic Reduction of NOxat a LowTemperature via Engineering Polymeric VOxSpecies by CeO2

Weiwei Hu et al.

Summary: Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx using V2O5-based oxide catalysts is a widely used technique, but reducing NOx efficiently at low temperatures in the presence of SO2 and H2O remains a challenge. In this study, engineering polymeric VOx species on CeO2 was found to enable SO2- and H2O-tolerant catalytic reduction of NOx at low temperatures. The polymeric VOx species were formed through the interaction between Ce and V species, and played a role in tuning the SCR reaction. In the presence of SO2 and H2O, the polymeric VOx species remained largely unaffected, while the formation of sulfate species on Ce sites promoted NH4+ adsorption, the reaction between gaseous NO and NH4+, and the decomposition of ammonium bisulfate.

Boosting SO2-Resistant NOx Reduction by Modulating Electronic Interaction of Short-Range Fe-O Coordination over Fe2O3/TiO2 Catalysts

Xiangyu Liu et al.

Summary: SO2-resistant NOx reduction has been enhanced by modulating electronic interaction of short-range Fe-O coordination over Fe2O3/TiO2 catalysts. Sulfur doping exerts strong electronic perturbation to TiO2, causing a net charge transfer from Fe2O3 to TiO2 via increased short-range Fe-O coordination. This electronic effect simultaneously weakens charge transfer from Fe2O3 to SO2 and enhances that from NO/NH3 to Fe2O3.

Huimin Wang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the impact of PO43- on the hydrothermal stability and SO2 resistance of Cu/SAPO-34. The findings showed that the addition of phosphorus enhanced the low-temperature SCR reactivity of Cu/SAPO-34 and mitigated the adsorption of SO2, improving its anti-SO2 poisoning ability.

Insight on the anti-poisoning mechanism of in situ coupled sulfate over iron oxide catalysts in NOx reduction

Minghui Lyu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a catalyst with resistance to alkali, alkaline earth, and heavy metals for reducing NOx. The catalyst utilizes in situ introduced sulfates to protect active sites from metal poisoning. After metal poisoning, the catalyst retains high redox ability and enriched active oxygen species. This strategy accelerates the adsorption and reaction of NHx and NOx species, leading to improved NOx reduction efficiency.

Effects of hydrothermal aging on the sulfur poisoning of a Cu-SSZ-13 SCR catalyst

Yuanzhou Xi et al.

Summary: Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts are commonly used for NOx reduction in diesel aftertreatment, with hydrothermal aging and sulfur poisoning affecting their reactivity and resistance. Aging leads to decreased SCR reactivity with constant activation energy, while sulfur poisoning at lower temperatures results in lower reactivity. The catalyst becomes more resistant to sulfur poisoning with longer aging duration prior to sulfation, mainly due to the conversion of ZCuOH to Z(2)Cu.
