Hearing Thresholds for Unscreened US Adults: Data From the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011-2012, 2015-2016, and 2017-2020*

Summary: This study analyzed hearing threshold levels (HTLs) at frequencies ranging from 500 to 8,000 Hz in 8,795 American adults. The results showed that HTLs worsened with age, females had better hearing than males, and Non-Hispanic Blacks had better hearing than Non-Hispanic Whites.
