JUNO physics and detector

Angel Abusleme et al.

Summary: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector located 700 meters underground, with excellent energy resolution and a large fiducial volume. It offers exciting opportunities for studying neutrino and astro-particle physics. The construction and design of JUNO are challenging, but it provides potential for significant scientific research.

Flipped SU(5) GUT phenomenology: proton decay and gμ-2

John Ellis et al.

Summary: In flipped SU(5) GUT models, scenarios involving strong couplings between the 10- and 5-dimensional GUT Higgs representations may lead to detectable proton decay in the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. Furthermore, relaxing universality constraints on soft supersymmetry-breaking masses could result in a substantial contribution to g(mu) - 2.

Criteria for projected discovery and exclusion sensitivities of counting experiments

Prudhvi N. Bhattiprolu et al.

Summary: The projected discovery and exclusion capabilities in particle physics and astrophysics/cosmology experiments are often quantified using median expected p-values or significance, which can lead to flawed results. Alternatives should be considered, especially when background information is known or uncertain. Standard use of the exact Asimov significance ZA is advocated.

Prospects for beyond the Standard Model physics searches at the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment DUNE Collaboration

B. Abi et al.

Summary: DUNE, with its near and far detector systems, is a powerful machine for discovery in physics topics beyond the Standard Model, including sterile neutrino mixing, heavy neutral leptons, non-standard interactions, and more. It complements high-energy colliders by significantly extending the reach of new physics investigations.

Neural-network-driven proton decay sensitivity in the p → (ν)over-barK+ channel using large liquid argon time projection chambers

C. Alt et al.

Summary: An updated sensitivity for proton decay via p -> (nu) over barK(+) at large, dual phase liquid argon time projection chambers (LAr TPCs) has been reported, reaching a lifetime sensitivity greater than 7 x 10(34) years at 90% confidence level in quasi-background-free conditions with improved neutrino event generator and neural network for kaon identification. This confirms the superiority of the LAr TPC over other technologies to address challenging proton decay modes.
