BILP-Q: Quantum Coalition Structure Generation

Summary: This paper proposes a new quantum method, BILP-Q, for solving the Coalition Structure Generation problem. By reformulating the problem as a Quadratic Binary Combinatorial Optimization problem and leveraging existing quantum algorithms, the best coalition structure can be obtained. Comparative analysis on time complexity is conducted between the proposed quantum approach and classical methods. Small-scale experiments using IBM Qiskit and medium-scale problems on a real quantum annealer (D-Wave) are also performed.
