Simulations and global sensitivity analysis of the thermo-hydraulic-mechanical processes in a fractured geothermal reservoir

Saeed Mahmoodpour et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the importance of fractured reservoirs in long-term geothermal energy extraction. By studying 22 parameters, key parameters for operating geothermal reservoirs are identified. Thermal breakthrough time, mass flux, and overall energy recovery are key aspects of efficient and economical development of geothermal reservoirs.

Differential characterization of stress sensitivity and its main control mechanism in deep pore-fracture clastic reservoirs

Denglin Han et al.

Summary: This study classifies different types of stress sensitivity effects, finding that the main influencing factors come from the differential development of micro-pores and micro-fractures. Reservoirs rich in micro-pores exhibit a gradual change in permeability, accompanied by significant irreversible damage; while reservoirs rich in micro-fractures show a rapid change in permeability, but weaker irreversible damage.

Stress-sensitivity mechanisms and its controlling factors of saline-lacustrine fractured tight carbonate reservoir

Qigui Tan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the stress sensitivity behavior of saline-lacustrine fractured tight carbonate reservoir and found that the pressure attenuation method could be used for assessing stress sensitivity. The relationship between stress sensitivity and mineral type was qualitatively built, showing positive correlation with certain minerals and negative correlation with others. Time-dependent deformation of salt minerals strengthened the stress sensitivity of the reservoir.
