Bioflavonoid mediated synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles: Characterization and their biomedical applications

Sharvari Dessai et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized titanium dioxide nanoparticles using rutin as a mediator and evaluated their antibacterial, antidiabetic, and antioxidant properties. The results showed that the biosynthesized nanoparticles exhibited good antioxidant activity and moderate inhibition of alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase. Furthermore, these nanoparticles showed no toxicity and had comparable properties to chemically prepared nanoparticles.

Photocatalytic activity of anatase-brookite TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by sol gel method at low temperature

W. Nachit et al.

Summary: TiO2 photocatalysis has wide applications in environmental and energy fields. This paper investigates the degradation of Rhodamine B using TiO2 nanoparticles under UV light. The results show that TiO2 nanoparticles can degrade 95% of RhB dye within 60 minutes under UV light.

Microstructural view of anatase to rutile phase transformation examined by in-situ high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction

Kohobhange S. P. Karunadasa et al.

Summary: The phase transformation of commercial TiO2 was carefully studied using in-situ high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction. The results showed that the phase transition initiated slowly and accelerated at higher temperatures. The unit cell volume of rutile followed a third-degree polynomial distribution, while the a and b unit cell parameters followed a second-degree polynomial distribution with temperature. The formation of newly formed rutile occurred under decreased lattice strain and increased crystallite size.

Morphology dependent photovoltaic performance of zinc oxide-cobalt oxide nanoparticleinanorod composites synthesized by simple chemical co-precipitation method

S. Thambidurai et al.

Summary: Zinc oxide-cobalt oxide nanocomposites (ZnO-Co3O4 NCs) with different concentrations of Co2+ ions were synthesized and characterized. The presence of Co3O4 induced a red shift in the absorption spectra of ZnO-Co3O4 NCs and reduced their band gap energy. FESEM images revealed a composite nanostructure morphology of nanoparticles and nanorods in the ZnO-Co3O4 NCs.

Light-driven oxygen evolution from water oxidation with immobilised TiO2 engineered for high performance

Maria J. Sampaio et al.

Summary: Calcination treatments of TiO2 synthesised by the sol-gel method in the range of 500-900°C resulted in materials with variable physicochemical and morphological properties, with the best water oxidation performance achieved at 700°C. Photocatalysts with higher anatase to rutile ratio and surface density of oxygen vacancies displayed the best OER performance, with oxygen defects at the catalyst surface responsible for enhanced photoactivity. Immobilising the photocatalyst with the highest OER rate (TiO2-700) demonstrated remarkable efficiency for oxygen production under continuous mode, exceeding 12% AQE at 384 nm.
