Heterointerface Created on Au-Cluster-Loaded Unilamellar Hydroxide Electrocatalysts as a Highly Active Site for the Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Sho Kitano et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the loading of gold clusters on unilamellar exfoliated layered double hydroxide (ULDH) electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), forming a heterointerface between gold clusters and ULDHs as active sites, accompanied by oxidation state modulation of the active site and interfacial direct O-O coupling (interfacial DOOC). The Au-cluster-loaded ULDHs exhibit excellent activity for the OER, indicating that the interface between gold clusters and ULDHs promotes a novel OER mechanism through interfacial DOOC, achieving outstanding catalytic performance.

Recent Advances on Nonprecious-Metal-Based Bifunctional Oxygen Electrocatalysts for Zinc-Air Batteries

Ze-Cheng Yao et al.

Summary: Zin-cair batteries show great potential with high energy density and decent rechargeability, but their performance is limited by sluggish kinetics of oxygen electrocatalysis. The key focus is on designing nonprecious metal-based electrocatalysts with excellent activity, durability, and low cost.

P-Block Atomically Dispersed Antimony Catalyst for Highly Efficient Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Tongzhou Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a p-block antimony single-atom catalyst with Sb-N-4 configuration was successfully synthesized for efficient catalysis of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The Sb SAC exhibited superior ORR activity and stability compared to most transition-metal based SACs and commercial Pt/C. Experimental and theoretical calculations revealed that the active catalytic sites were positively charged Sb-N-4 single-metal sites, indicating promising potential for the design of highly active main-group-metal SACs.

Ni2P/NiMoP heterostructure as a bifunctional electrocatalyst for energy-saving hydrogen production

Tongzhou Wang et al.

Summary: An effective approach is introduced in this study to replace the anodic oxygen evolution reaction with a urea oxidation reaction, significantly decreasing the cell voltage for hydrogen production. The Ni2P/NiMoP catalyst shows impressive activity for both hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution during hydrogen production. The introduction of urea results in a significant reduction in oxidation voltage, and the two-electrode electrolyzer with Ni2P/NiMoP catalyst exhibits excellent long-term durability.
