Microsolvation of lithium cation in xenon clusters: An octahedral growth pattern

Marwa Slama et al.

Summary: In this study, the structural and energetic properties of Li + Xen (n = 1-18) clusters are investigated using BH-PM and DFT methods. The transition from tetrahedral to octahedral structure is observed at n = 6, and a cubic-face-centered arrangement for xenon atoms is detected in Li+Xe14. Additionally, the stability of Li + Xen clusters is studied by calculating the total energy and binding energy, and the magic number series is identified based on the second energy difference between neighboring sizes.

Setting up the HyDRA blind challenge for the microhydration of organic molecules

Taija L. Fischer et al.

Summary: The procedure for the first HyDRA blind challenge for predicting water donor stretching vibrations in monohydrates of organic molecules is described. A training set of 10 monohydrates with known experimental data is presented, along with a test set of 10 monohydrates with unknown water donor vibrational wavenumbers. The rules for data submissions from computational chemistry groups are outlined, and the planned publication procedure after the challenge is discussed.

Coupled Anharmonic Thermochemistry from Stratified Monte Carlo Integration

Gabriel Rath et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new semiclassical method called configuration integral Monte Carlo integration (CIMCI) for handling fully coupled anharmonicity in gas-phase thermodynamics. It promises to be black boxable, applicable to all kinds of anharmonicity, and to scale better at higher dimensionality compared to other methods. The method uses simultaneous Monte Carlo integration of multiple functions and shows better agreement with reference data for anharmonic entropy corrections in small systems like H2O and H2O2.

Reaction Mechanisms and Rate Constants of Auto-Catalytic Urethane Formation and Cleavage Reactions

Christoph Gertig et al.

Summary: The chemistry of urethanes is crucial in industrial processes, and studying the mechanisms of urethane formation and cleavage can provide a deeper understanding. Quantum chemistry and transition state theory can predict reaction rate constants, and the validation of experimental data shows quantitative agreement. The study results support a deeper understanding of reactions and reaction kinetics, contributing to catalyst development and process optimization.
