Regional and age-related diversity of human mature oligodendrocytes

Moein Yaqubi et al.

Summary: Morphological and molecular studies have shown that there is heterogeneity within the oligodendrocyte population in the human central nervous system. Through single-cell RNA sequencing, this study identified transcriptionally distinct subpopulations of mature oligodendrocytes in different regions and at different ages. The findings suggest that the heterogeneity of oligodendrocyte populations may be influenced by developmental and environmental factors.

Single-cell transcriptomic reveals molecular diversity and developmental heterogeneity of human stem cell-derived oligodendrocyte lineage cells

Xitiz Chamling et al.

Summary: The study reveals significant transcriptional heterogeneity of human oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (hOPCs) and identifies a potential cytokine-responsive hOPC subset, as well as candidate regulatory genes/networks that define the identity of these sub-populations.
