Magnetic structure of triangular lattice compound Tb2Ni0.90Si2.94

Santanu Pakhira et al.

Summary: The ternary intermetallic compound Tb2Ni0.90Si2.94 of AlB2 type shows spin freezing behavior of ferromagnetic clusters and spatially limited antiferromagnetic phase at temperatures below 9.9 K. Neutron diffraction study reveals a non-collinear sine-modulated antiferromagnetic ordering in the ab-plane with wave vectors down to 1.7 K, confirming the short-range nature of the antiferromagnetic phase.

Frustration-driven magnetic fluctuations as the origin of the low-temperature skyrmion phase in Co7Zn7Mn6

V Ukleev et al.

Summary: This study reveals a direct correlation between the stability of the second skyrmion phase in the chiral magnet Co7Zn7Mn6 and an underlying magnetic fluctuation rate driven by geometric magnetic frustration. It shows weak influences of other leading skyrmion stability mechanisms in this system, and suggests a fundamental mechanism for stabilizing topological skyrmions drawing upon magnetic frustration.

Complex magnetic properties associated with competing local and itinerant magnetism in Pr2Co0.86Si2.88

Mily Kundu et al.

Summary: The ternary intermetallic compound Pr2Co0.86Si2.88 has been successfully synthesized and characterized through various analysis methods. The compound exhibits a magnetic transition and antiferromagnetic ordering, with a glassy structure at high temperatures. The antiferromagnetic coupling between Pr 4f and Co 3d spins is responsible for the low temperature magnetic transition.

A framework for quantifying uncertainty in DFT energy corrections

Amanda Wang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a method to quantify uncertainty in DFT energy corrections, showing how it can improve accuracy in computational phase stability predictions. Results suggest that unstable polymorphs in many chemical systems may actually be predicted stable when uncertainty is taken into account. This highlights the importance of considering uncertainty in assessing compound stability.
