A new small molecule, 5,15-di(thiophen-2-yl) porphyrin (TP), was developed for high-performance dual-ion symmetric organic batteries (DSOBs). It exhibited a capacity of 150 mA h g(-1) at 0.2 A g(-1) with a high voltage of 2.7 V, and demonstrated excellent cycling stability up to 1500 cycles. This study provides a new approach for the development of high-performance dual-ion organic symmetric batteries.
