Tunable emission color and anti-thermal-quenching behaviors in niobates for high-sensitive optical thermometry

Bin Zhao et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully designed a new type of tunable spectrum bismuth-doped phosphor material for high-sensitive optical temperature sensors. The emission position of this material can be controllably shifted from 475 to 462 nm by adjusting the doping concentration of europium ions. In addition, controlled luminescence from blue to red can be achieved through the design of bismuth to europium energy transfer, highlighting the multiplicity of applications in non-contact temperature measurement and white LED.

Efficient luminescence lifetime thermometry with enhanced Mn4+-activated BaLaCa1-xMgxSbO6 red phosphors

Guixian Li et al.

Summary: Introducing smaller Mg2+ ions to replace Ca2+ site in the BaLaCaSbO6 matrix leads to a significant enhancement in luminescence intensity, red-shift, and luminescence lifetime. These modulations are mainly attributed to the strengthen pressure on the local structure, superior lattice rigidity, and suppression of non-radiative transition after the substitution of smaller Mg2+. The effective lifetime-based luminescence thermometry is achieved due to thermal quenching behavior of Mn4+ ions in the matrix.

Engineering of Mixed Eu3+/Tb3+ Metal-Organic Frameworks Luminescent Thermometers with Tunable Sensitivity

Virgile Trannoy et al.

Summary: This study optimizes the thermometric performances of luminescent probes by reporting a series of mixed Eu3+-Tb3+ metal-organic frameworks, showing a maximum relative sensitivity between 0.19 and 0.44% K-1 at temperatures between 240 and 340 K. Additionally, a meticulous theoretical investigation of the Tb3+-to-Eu3+ energy transfer was conducted to determine the predominant pathway of the energy transfer, providing clear evidence of the significant influence of the Eu/Tb ratio on the energy transfer between Ln(3+) emitting centers.

Site preference and the optical thermometry strategy by different temperature response from two sites environment of Mn2+ in K7ZnSc2B15O30

Ying Fu et al.

Summary: A novel optical thermometry strategy based on the different temperature response of Mn2+ in the two sites environment of K7ZnSc2B15O30:Mn2+ was reported. The color-tunable Mn2+ doped K7ZnSc2B15O30 luminescence materials were successfully prepared, and the photoluminescence properties were studied. The results showed that the thermal quenching properties of Mn2+ at the two kinds of lattice sites are different, leading to a significant change in the intensity ratio of the two emission bands.

Anti-thermal-quenching red-emitting GdNbO4:Pr3+ phosphor based on metal-to-metal charge transfer for optical thermometry application

Wanggui Ye et al.

Summary: The study proposes an internal self-regulation anti-thermal quenching strategy to develop Pr3+-activated GdNbO4 red phosphor, which can compensate for the loss of red emission intensity during heating by utilizing a metal-to-metal charge transfer mechanism between Pr3+ ions and Nb5+ ions. This approach enables the phosphor to maintain or even enhance its integrated photoluminescence intensity from 300 K to 620 K, showing promise for high-temperature applications and optical temperature sensing.
