Sustainable ammonia production enabled by membrane reactor

Lingting Ye et al.

Summary: The ammonia industry plays a crucial role in global food supply, but its production from the Haber-Bosch process is associated with high CO2 emissions and energy consumption. In this study, the authors propose a more sustainable approach to synthesize ammonia using a membrane reactor.

Photovoltaically top-performing perovskite crystal facets

Chunqing Ma et al.

Summary: The controlled formation of perovskite thin films allows for the formation of well-defined facets on perovskite polyhedral single crystals. The properties of these facets, including atom density and symmetry, significantly affect the surface chemical and electronic environment of perovskite, leading to variations in photovoltaic performance.

Towards anti-perovskite nitrides as potential nitrogen storage materials for chemical looping ammonia production: Reduction of Co3ZnN, Ni3ZnN, Co3InN and Ni3InN under hydrogen

Y. Goto et al.

Summary: The ammonia production properties of anti-perovskite nitrides Co3ZnN, Ni3ZnN, Co3InN, and Ni3InN were investigated upon reduction in hydrogen. Differences in ammonia production yield and release rates were observed among these nitrides.

Chemical looping dry reforming of methane using mixed oxides of iron and cerium: Operation window

F. R. Garcia-Garcia et al.

Summary: The reactivity during the chemical looping dry reforming of methane significantly increased when iron and cerium are forming a mixed oxide. By controlling the Fe2O3/CeO2 mass ratio, the activity of the oxygen carrier material can be adjusted to favor oxidation of methane to syngas.

Ruthenium Catalysts Promoted by Lanthanide Oxyhydrides with High Hydride-Ion Mobility for Low-Temperature Ammonia Synthesis

Kayato Ooya et al.

Summary: Lanthanum oxyhydrides are reported to have high hydride ion conductivity, but loading ruthenium can enhance ammonia synthesis activity. The study finds that the catalytic performance is strongly correlated with the surface H- ion mobility of the ruthenium-loaded lanthanum oxyhydrides.

The Role of Composition and Phase upon the Lattice Nitrogen Reactivity of Ternary Molybdenum Nitrides

Angela Daisley et al.

Summary: The reactivity of lattice nitrogen in filled beta-Mn structured Co2Mo3N and eta-carbide structured Co3Mo3N and Fe3Mo3N was investigated under 3:1 H2/Ar at temperatures up to 900 degrees C. It was found that lattice nitrogen in Co3Mo3N was reactive, while Co2Mo3N was stable up to 800 degrees C. Furthermore, upon H2/Ar treatment at 900 degrees C, the Co2Mo3N, Co3Mo3N, and Fe3Mo3N phases decomposed, indicating that both metal composition and phase have an influence on the bulk lattice nitrogen reactivity of the ternary nitrides.
