Effects of dietary host-associated Lactococcus lactis on growth performance, disease resistance, intestinal morphology and intestinal microbiota of mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi)

Chuan-Zhong Zhu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of dietary host-associated Lactococcus lactis 3-c-18 supplementation on growth, serum biochemical indices, liver and intestine health, intestinal microbiota, and Aeromonas hydrophila resistance in mandarin fish. Results showed positive impacts on growth performance, liver and gut health, A. hydrophila resistance, and intestinal microbial diversity. However, high levels of L. lactis 3-c-18 may reduce these beneficial effects, with a recommended dosage of approximately 1 x 10(8) CFU/kg in mandarin fish feed.

Metabolic responses of Chinese perch (Siniperca chuatsi) to different levels of dietary carbohydrate

Yanpeng Zhang et al.

Summary: The metabolic responses of Chinese perch to moderate and high dietary carbohydrate levels were investigated. The results showed that Chinese perch effectively utilized 17.5% dietary carbohydrates, converting some into glycogen while maintaining glucose homeostasis. However, the utilization of 27.5% dietary carbohydrates was limited, leading to negative metabolic effects such as increased liver lipid levels, decreased protein content, and liver damage.

Salmon gut microbiota correlates with disease infection status: potential for monitoring health in farmed animals

Davide Bozzi et al.

Summary: The study found that external bacterial skin infections and subsequent formalin treatment could affect the gut microbiota of Atlantic salmon, with diseased fish having a different gut microbiota composition from healthy fish, and fish treated with formalin showing a gut microbiota more similar to diseased fish.
