Greenland Ice Sheet Subsurface Temperature Estimation Using Ultrawideband Microwave Radiometry

Summary: Ice sheet subsurface temperature is crucial for understanding glacier dynamics. However, current methods of obtaining ice sheet temperature are limited to in situ sources. A new technology called ultrawideband software-defined microwave radiometer (UWBRAD) has been developed to remotely sense ice sheet internal temperatures.

A Partially Coherent Approach for Modeling Polar Ice Sheet 0.52-GHz Thermal Emission

Summary: This article introduces a partially coherent model of the Ultra-Wideband Software Defined Microwave Radiometer for capturing the impact of ice density variations on brightness temperatures and improving computational efficiency. The model divides the ice sheet into blocks, utilizing a Monte Carlo procedure to calculate reflection and transmission parameters within each block. Results are in good agreement with other observations.
