Arabidopsis root responses to salinity depend on pectin modification and cell wall sensing

Nora Gigli-Bisceglia et al.

Summary: Due to its harmful effect on plant growth, salinity is becoming an increasingly serious problem for agriculture worldwide. In Arabidopsis thaliana, salt triggers the activation of pectin methyl esterase (PME) and leads to multiple salt-dependent responses. In addition, cell wall integrity plays a role in the functionality of salt-sensing mechanisms.

The LRXs-RALFs-FER module controls plant growth and salt stress responses by modulating multiple plant hormones

Chunzhao Zhao et al.

Summary: The LRX3/4/5-RALF22/23-FER module regulates plant growth and salt stress responses by negatively controlling levels of JA, SA, and ABA, influencing cell wall integrity and stress-responsive gene expression. Increased ROS production contributes to salt hypersensitivity in lrx34S and fer-4 mutants, and inhibiting ROS accumulation can alleviate this hypersensitivity.

Phytochrome type B family: The abiotic stress responses signaller in plants

Carlos Alberto Silva Junior et al.

Summary: Photoreceptors, particularly the phytochrome B (phyB) family, play crucial roles in modulating plant development and abiotic stress responses by enhancing plant resistance to environmental stresses through regulating signaling pathways. Understanding the positive and negative roles of phyB in stress tolerance characteristics is essential for genetic engineering to improve plant growth and development in critical environments.

Improvement of tomato salt tolerance by the regulation of photosynthetic performance and antioxidant enzyme capacity under a low red to far-red light ratio

Yunlong Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that a low R:FR ratio helps alleviate the damage of salt stress on tomato seedlings by increasing photosynthetic efficiency and antioxidant enzyme activity, maintaining the integrity and stability of chloroplast structure.

A photoregulatory mechanism of the circadian clock in Arabidopsis

Xu Wang et al.

Summary: CRYs play various functions in plants and animals, including photoperception and circadian regulation; blue light induces liquid-liquid phase separation of CRY2, altering the epitranscriptome of mRNA, especially those related to the circadian clock; light-induced phase separation of CRYs modulates mRNA methylation and circadian rhythms in plants.
