Life cycle assessment of rice bran oil production: a case study in China

Li-Hui Sun et al.

Summary: This study conducted a gate-to-gate life cycle assessment for rice bran oil production, showing that the oil refining and extraction stages have the highest environmental impact, primarily due to high demands for coal and electricity. It is recommended to change the electricity source and use cleaner fuels to promote sustainable development in the industry.

How does the photovoltaic industry contribute to China's carbon neutrality goal? Analysis of a system dynamics simulation

Libo Zhang et al.

Summary: Research on China's PV industry shows that before 2018, the industry emitted more CO2 than it reduced, with significant implications for achieving carbon neutrality. To reach carbon neutrality, there will be a significant amount of waste PV modules generated annually after 2030, and recycling these modules could reduce emissions by 55 million tons of CO2. The PV industry has a crucial role in reducing China's carbon emissions and achieving societal carbon neutrality by 2060.

Spatial and temporal changes of the ecological footprint of China's resource-based cities in the process of urbanization

Jing Wu et al.

Summary: The development of resource-based cities in China is facing the dual pressures of negative externalities and urbanization, leading to ecological deficits at both national and regional levels. The ecological deficits are mainly caused by insufficient biological capacity at the national scale, while at the regional level, they are closely related to local natural and social conditions as well as continued urbanization.

Exploring social impacts of urban rail transit PPP projects: Towards dynamic social change from the stakeholder perspective

Xiaer Xiahou et al.

Summary: This study explores the effects of URT-PPPs based on social impact and stakeholder management theories and proposes a conceptual model to evaluate the social impacts of URT-PPPs by studying social change and stakeholder satisfaction. By identifying 37 indicators and conducting a structured questionnaire survey, the study extracts 26 key indicators representing three major social impacts, further verified through a structural equation model to demonstrate the dynamic mechanism and evolutionary path of social impacts led by URT-PPPs.

Narratives and water: A bibliometric review

Ching Leong

Summary: The role of narratives in influencing human behavior, specifically in relation to water, is significant for policymakers. By conducting bibliometric analysis and qualitative review, a typology capturing themes in literature can be established. Narratives can be classified based on axes of expert and local knowledge, as well as time-retrospective and prospective.

Carbon Neutrality Policies and Technologies: A Scientometric Analysis of Social Science Disciplines

Yuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Carbon neutrality, or net zero, has become a major focus in assessing human impact on Earth, with international and local collaboration efforts aimed at achieving carbon neutrality or zero emissions. Risk assessment and control efforts towards carbon-neutral pathways are crucial, requiring a summary of essential preparatory work on related policies and technologies.
