The utility of texture analysis based on quantitative synthetic magnetic resonance imaging in nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a preliminary study

Fan Yang et al.

Summary: The study aims to investigate the diagnostic performance of synthetic magnetic resonance imaging (SyMRI) in differentiating nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) from nasopharyngeal hyperplasia (NPH) and evaluating occipital clivus (OC) invasion. The results showed that the T1, T2, and PD map-derived models had excellent diagnostic performance in discriminating NPC from NPH. In addition, the SyMRI models also showed excellent performance in distinguishing OC invasion from non-invasion.

Positional MR imaging of normal and injured knees

James F. Griffith et al.

Summary: This study used a practical positional MRI protocol to evaluate tibiofemoral translation and rotation in normal and injured knees. The results showed that ACL tear knees exhibited increased tibial anterior translation and decreased external rotation compared to normal knees. Multidirectional malalignment was more common in ACL tear knees.

A dynamic nomogram combining tumor stage and magnetic resonance imaging features to predict the response to induction chemotherapy in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Yuting Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a comprehensive nomogram incorporating MRI features and tumor stage was established to predict the response to induction chemotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). The nomogram showed high predictive accuracy in the validation cohort, outperforming traditional TNM staging and MRI feature-based models.

Synthetic MRI in differentiating benign from metastatic retropharyngeal lymph node: combination with diffusion-weighted imaging

Peng Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the synthetic MRI (syMRI) and its combination with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and morphological features for discriminating benign from metastatic retropharyngeal lymph nodes (RLNs). The results showed that syMRI has diagnostic value in differentiating RLNs, and the combination with DWI and morpholoigcal features further improves the efficiency of diagnosis.

Summary: This study compared the imaging quality, T stage, and EMVI evaluation between conventional and synthetic T2-weighted imaging in rectal cancer. The results suggest that synthetic MRI can enhance preoperative staging and EMVI evaluation for RC.

Original DCE-MRI quantitative transport mapping for noninvasively detecting hypoxia inducible factor-1α, epidermal growth factor receptor overexpression, and Ki-67 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients

Weiyuan Huang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that DCE-MRI can detect the expression levels of HIF-1α, EGFR, and Ki-67 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients by quantitatively measuring tumor blood flow, vascularity, and permeability, with |u| and K-trans serving as noninvasive imaging markers for detecting hypoxia and proliferation.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: correlation of quantitative dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) parameters with hypoxia-inducible factor 1α expression and tumor grade/stage

Lan Liu et al.

Summary: DCE-MRI parameters RE, ME, and MRE are associated with positive HIF-1 alpha expression in NPC and can reflect the hypoxic status in the local microenvironment of the cancer foci. These parameters are also correlated with clinical grade and T stage, with increasing values as the grade and stage increase.

Three-dimensional pulsed continuous arterial spin labeling and intravoxel incoherent motion imaging of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: correlations with Ki-67 proliferation status

Wenxiu Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between Ki-67 proliferation status in NPC and imaging parameters from 3D pCASL and IVIM. The results suggest that BFmax is the best biomarker for distinguishing high from low Ki-67 levels in NPC patients, and 3D pCASL is more effective than IVIM for evaluating the proliferation status of NPC.

Triple-negative breast cancer on contrast-enhanced MRI and synthetic MRI: A comparison with non-triple-negative breast carcinoma

Megumi Matsuda et al.

Summary: Pre-T2 obtained using synthetic MRI and P-RIM identified on DCE-MRI were significant and independent predictors of TNBC, with the combination of Pre-T2 and P-RIM showing higher ability to distinguish between TNBCs and non-TNBCs compared to using either Pre-T2 or P-RIM alone. These results suggest the potential of using specific imaging features to differentiate between TNBC and non-TNBC, but further studies are needed for verification.

Combination of Epithelial Growth Factor Receptor Blockers and CDK4/6 Inhibitor for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Treatment

Hsin-Pai Li et al.

Summary: The EGF-EGFR pathway was highly activated in very young patients with recurrent or metastatic NPC, leading to poor clinical outcomes. EGFR inhibitors and a cell cycle blocker showed promising results in reducing NPC cell and PDX tumor growth, with combination treatment demonstrating an additive suppression effect. High EGFR expression was correlated with poor survival in metastatic NPC patients.

Summary: This article summarizes the relationship between EBV, EGFR, and LMP1 in NPC, highlighting the importance of EGFR in the occurrence and development of NPC. EGFR-targeted drugs are discussed as potential newly developed anti-tumor drugs for NPC patients, as activation of EGFR signaling affects various aspects of NPC cell behavior and contributes to poor outcomes.
