New insight into the design of highly dispersed Pt supported CeO2-TiO2 catalysts with superior activity for VOCs low-temperature removal

Yijun Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxide supports with different Ce/Ti molar ratios were synthesized and loaded with Pt catalysts. The results show that an appropriate Ce/Ti molar ratio significantly enhances the interaction between CeO2 and TiOx, improving their redox ability. The dispersibility of Pt species is also influenced by the Ce/Ti molar ratio, with the Pt/CeTi-2/1 catalyst exhibiting the best Pt dispersibility. The high dispersion of Pt species promotes the catalytic activity of VOCs oxidation and demonstrates good stability.

A novel Bi2WO6/Si heterostructure photocatalyst with Fermi level shift in valence band realizes efficient reduction of CO2 under visible light

Peng Chen et al.

Summary: A novel Bi2WO6/Si heterostructure photocatalyst was developed in this study, which showed a shift of the Fermi level to the valence band, effectively reducing the difficulty of electron holes generation. The photocatalysts with special branch structure achieved an increased surface area and the ability to absorb visible light. The presence of heterojunction enhanced the separation of photo-excited electron-hole pairs and prolonged the electron lifetime, resulting in efficient reduction of CO2.

Construction of Z-scheme Ag/AgVO3/carbon-rich g-C3N4 heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of sulfamethiadiazole: DFT calculation and mechanism study

Zhixin Liu et al.

Summary: A novel Z-scheme Ag/AgVO3/carbon-rich g-C3N4 heterojunction with excellent solar-light-driven photocatalytic activity was prepared. The optimal composite with a 10 wt% Ag/AgVO3 content showed the highest photocatalytic activity, with a degradation rate constant (k) for SFZ degradation significantly higher than carbon-rich gC3N4 (CCN) and Ag/AgVO3. & BULL;O-2(-) was identified as the most crucial reactive species in the Z-scheme photocatalysis system. The improved photocatalytic activity is attributed to the built-in electric field of carbon-rich g-C3N4 and efficient charge transfer with Ag nanoparticles.

An innovative Z-scheme g-C3N4/ZnO/NiFe2O4 heterostructure for the concomitant photocatalytic removal and real-time monitoring of noxious fluoroquinolones

Twinkle Garg et al.

Summary: A novel ternary heterostructure with dual Z-scheme g-C3N4/ZnO/NiFe2O4 was designed and synthesized, which showed enhanced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of fluoroquinolone antibiotics and selective fluorescence sensing. The improved photocatalytic activity was attributed to the dual Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism, resulting in enhanced visible light absorption and reduced recombination rate. The fluorescence sensor exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity for the detection of fluoroquinolones.

UV-VIS-NIR-induced extraordinary H2 evolution over W18O49/Cd0.5Zn0.5S: Surface plasmon effect coupled with S-scheme charge transfer

Wenhua Xue et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel plasmon-assisted UV-vis-NIR-driven W18O49/Cd0.5Zn0.5S heterostructure photocatalyst with extraordinary H-2 evolution activity was obtained. The investigation reveals that the unique Step-scheme charge transfer and the 'hot electron' injection are responsible for the extraordinary H-2 evolution process, depending on the wavelength of the incident light. Moreover, by accelerating the surface reaction kinetics, the activity can be further elevated, accompanied by a high apparent quantum yield.
