High Steric-Hindrance Windmill-Type Molecules for Efficient Ultraviolet to Pure-Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diodes via Hybridized Local and Charge-Transfer Excited-State

Ziting Zhong et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new strategy for high-performance UV-blue emitters based on a high steric-hindrance windmill-type structure. These emitters exhibit good stability and a hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) excited state. Experimental results show that the emission of the emitters can be modulated from UV/deep-blue to pure blue by adjusting the excitation components.

Spiral Donor Design Strategy for Blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters

Wei Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the importance of energy level relationships between spiral donors and luminophores on the photoluminescent quantum yields of materials, and proposes the use of quantum chemistry simulations to accurately predict these relationships. The optimized molecular structure and energy alignment play a key role in enhancing the performance of TADF emitters. Ultimately, the TADF emitter DspiroS-TRZ achieved remarkable results with 99.9% PLQY and 38.4% EQE, the highest reported among all blue TADF emitters to date.

Intramolecular-Locked High Efficiency Ultrapure Violet-Blue (CIE-y <0.046) Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Emitters Exhibiting Amplified Spontaneous Emission

Aziz Khan et al.

Summary: The rational manipulation of molecular frontier orbital distribution and singlet-triplet splitting is crucial for exploiting the luminescent properties of organic molecules. In this study, a new TADF skeleton is developed by inserting a diphenyl methylene intramolecular lock to adjust torsion angles and restrict intramolecular relaxation. Two rigid emitters show narrow FWHMs and emit in deep blue and violet-blue, with fast S-1-S-0 transition rates and low ASE thresholds.
