Comprehensive Characterization of APTES Surface Modifications of Hydrous Boehmite Nanoparticles

Ajmal Zarinwall et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that adjusting the surface properties of nanofillers allows for selectively designing interactions to optimize the advantages of nanocomposites. By using specific process parameters, a monolayer can be formed on BNP, resulting in a maximal grafting density of 1.3 molecules/nm^2. Unsuspected multilayer formation is observed only under acidic conditions.

APTES Modification of Molybdenum Disulfide to Improve the Corrosion Resistance of Waterborne Epoxy Coating

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the dispersion and compatibility of MoS2 in water-borne epoxy were effectively improved by modifying APTES, leading to enhanced crosslinking density with epoxy coating. The MoS2-APTES exhibited outstanding corrosion resistance even after 50 days of immersion in salt solution, possibly due to the improved dispersibility and compatibility of MoS2 in the coating.

The Effect of WS2 Nanosheets on the Non-Isothermal Cold- and Melt-Crystallization Kinetics of Poly(l-lactic acid) Nanocomposites

Mohammed Naffakh et al.

Summary: In this study, hybrid nanocomposite materials were prepared by solution blending PLLA with 2D-WS2, revealing that the incorporation of 2D-WS2 influences the crystallization rate and final crystallinity of PLLA, while increasing the nanosheet content leads to a transition from retardation to promotion of crystallization. The double-melting peaks observed were mainly derived from melting-recrystallization-melting processes upon heating, highlighting the potential of PLLA/hybrid nanocomposites in targeted applications.

Interaction of Poly L-Lactide and Tungsten Disulfide Nanotubes Studied by In Situ X-ray Scattering during Expansion of PLLA/WS2NT Nanocomposite Tubes

Lison Rocher et al.

Summary: In this study, in situ synchrotron X-ray scattering was used to investigate the transient microstructure of PLLA/WS2NTs nanocomposites during the blow molding process. The flow generated during tube expansion affected the orientation of WS2NTs and the formation of polymer crystals, with WS2NTs remaining oriented along the extrusion direction and PLLA crystals forming along the tube's circumferential direction. The favorable interaction between PLLA and WS2NTs led to the unique decoupling of the orientations of nanotubes and polymer crystals.
