Investigating the non-classical M-H2 bonding in OsClH3(PPh3)3

Carly C. Carter et al.

Summary: The study characterized the metal-hydrogen and hydrogen-hydrogen interactions in a previously reported compound using diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering measurements, paired with molecular and solid-state density functional theory. Based on the findings, the compound was reclassified as a rare example of a non-classical compressed dihydride species.

Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer Guidelines, Fair and Square

Robin Tyburski et al.

Summary: Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) reactions play a fundamental role in energy transformation reactions and are increasingly important in catalysis and synthetic chemistry. The interplay between proton and electron transfer leads to a richness of reactivity, with various sequential and concerted mechanisms. Understanding and distinguishing between different PCET mechanisms is crucial for the design and optimization of reactions utilizing PCET.

Structural studies of N-(methoxysalicylidene)fluoroaniline, N-(methoxysalicylidene)-chloroaniline and N-(methoxysalicylidene)-bromoaniline derivatives

Helen E. Mason et al.

Summary: Twenty seven N-(methoxysalicylidene)-haloaniline compounds were synthesized, with crystal structures determined at low temperature. Two of the compounds showed new polymorphs, while one underwent a temperature-induced phase transition. The interplanar angle between aromatic rings and intermolecular interactions were examined in relation to thermochromism observations.

Recent Trends in the Design, Synthesis, Spectroscopic Behavior, and Applications of Benzazole-Based Molecules with Solid-State Luminescence Enhancement Properties

Suzanne Fery-Forgues et al.

Summary: Molecules with solid-state luminescence enhancement properties, especially those incorporating Benzazole (BZ) heterocycles, are finding increasing applications in optoelectronics, nanophotonics, sensors, imaging, and theranostics. By enlarging the pi-electron system of BZ molecules or associating them with polyaromatic motifs, attractive electroluminescent properties can be achieved. Additionally, excited-state intramolecular proton transfer processes in hydroxy derivatives further enhance the solid-state luminescence effect, opening up possibilities for new sensor development strategies. Overall, the use of BZ units in various systems has led to significant progress in understanding photophysical mechanisms and the design of efficient luminescent materials.
