Neurolysin substrates bradykinin, neurotensin and substance P enhance brain microvascular permeability in a human in vitro model

Abraham J. Al-Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study revealed that bradykinin (BK), neurotensin (NT), and substance P (SP) can increase blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, with the combination of these peptides at sub-effective concentrations further enhancing their effects. Moreover, pretreatment with pharmacological blockers targeting specific receptors can neutralize the effects of BK, NT, and SP, suggesting potential therapeutic implications.
