An asymmetric 2,3-fluoranthene imide building block for regioregular semiconductors with aggregation-induced emission properties

Xianglang Sun et al.

Summary: In the field of organic semiconductors, the development of electron-rich building blocks has outpaced that of electron-deficient building blocks. Designing organic molecules with efficient charge transport and strong solid-state emission simultaneously remains a significant challenge. This study introduces a new pi-acceptor imide building block, 2,3-fluoranthene imide, and synthesizes four regioregular small molecules with attractive aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics and strong far-red emission. The study highlights the importance of regioregular structures in the materials' properties and demonstrates the potential of the asymmetric 2,3-fluoranthene imide as a promising building block for constructing organic materials with high carrier mobility and strong solid-state emission.

Molecular Uniting Set Identified Characteristic (MUSIC) of Organic Optoelectronic Material

Arui Huang et al.

Summary: Researchers investigated the organic optoelectronic materials and their development in various applications. The optoelectronic performance of these materials depends on both the properties of the molecules and their aggregate states. Molecular packing plays a key role in opto-electronic materials and the concept of "Molecular uniting set identified characteristic (MUSIC)" is introduced.

Anion-π-Induced Room Temperature Phosphorescence from Emissive Charge-Transfer States

Swadhin Garain et al.

Summary: This study explores the potential of anion-π interactions in modulating excited states and proposes a molecular design that achieves phosphorescence emission and local excited triplet state emission simultaneously in solution phase using an anion-π-mediated supramolecular scaffold. Steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopy, along with theoretical calculations, provide detailed insights into the excited-state characteristics of the phosphor.

Color-tunable luminescence, energy transfer behavior and I-V characteristics of Dy3+,Eu3+ co-doped La(PO4) phosphors for WLEDs and solar applications

Yatish R. Parauha et al.

Summary: Different concentrations of Dy3+, Eu3+ doped, and co-doped La(PO4) phosphors were synthesized and investigated for their structural, spectroscopic, and energy transfer properties. The synthesized phosphors exhibited blue, yellow, orange, and red emissions under different excitation wavelengths. Co-doped phosphors showed blue, yellow, and red emissions. The synthesized phosphors were also coated on solar cells and showed potential for enhancing solar cell efficiency. The color tunable features suggested their potential for white LED applications.

Unraveling the defect-induced photoluminescence of a donor-acceptor AIE luminogen

Xunxue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study unveils the synthesis and photophysical properties of a donor-acceptor aggregation-induced emission (AIE) compound, DHPM, and its unique defect-induced photoluminescence (DIPL) behavior. DHPM is non-emissive in its crystalline state, but shows high emission at crystal defect points. Mechanical force down to mN level can activate the defect-induced photoluminescence, turning it into a mechanoresponsive luminescence. The aggregate of DHPM molecules into D-A coupling pi-dimers in the crystalline state inhibits luminescence, but external mechanical stimuli can disassemble the dimers and induce much higher photoluminescence.
