Magnetic properties of the noncentrosymmetric tetragonal antiferromagnet EuPtSi3

A. Bauer et al.

Summary: We conducted a comprehensive study on single crystals of EuPtSi3 and observed antiferromagnetic transitions at specific temperatures, as well as different magnetic phases under various magnetic fields. The magnetic properties exhibited hysteresis and discrepancies between differential and ac susceptibility, suggesting the presence of slow reorientation processes of mesoscale magnetic textures. Neutron diffraction further confirmed the existence of these magnetic textures.

Cycloidal Magnetic Ordering in Noncentrosymmetric EuIrGe3

Takeshi Matsumura et al.

Summary: Successive magnetic phase transitions in EuIrGe3 have been investigated using neutron diffraction and resonant X-ray diffraction. The compound exhibits incommensurate longitudinal sinusoidal order in the high temperature phase, cycloidal order in the intermediate phase, and rotated cycloidal order in the low temperature phase.

Pressure evolution of the electronic structure of non-centrosymmetric EuRhGe3

Y. Utsumi et al.

Summary: Among europium compounds, pressure can induce valence transitions and intermediate valence states. In the case of EuRhGe3, high pressure results in a gradual increase of the Eu valence without a transition, with Ge ions playing an active role in this evolution, as indicated by experimental and theoretical analyses.

Anisotropy of X-ray Absorption Cross Section in CeCoGe3 Single Crystal

Andrei Rogalev et al.

Summary: The absorption spectra of a single CeCoGe3 crystal under two orthogonal linearly polarized X-rays near the K-edges of Ge, Co, and the L-23 edges of Ce were measured at the ID12 beamline of the ESRF. X-ray natural linear dichroism (XNLD) was observed near all absorption edges, indicating a splitting of electronic states in a crystalline field. Mathematical modeling and comparison with experimental data allowed determination of the isotropic and anisotropic parts of atomic absorption cross section in CeCoGe3 near all measured absorption edges, showing different anisotropic contributions from Ge atoms in two different Wyckoff positions.

X-ray spectroscopic and first-principles investigation of lead tungstate under pressure

Summary: High-energy-resolution fluorescence-detected (HERFD) measurements were used to study the pressure dependence of the local atomic structure of PbWO4 from 1 bar to 22 GPa, revealing an unambiguous phase transition from PbWO4-I to PbWO4-III around 7 GPa. The study also confirmed the absence of Raspite or Fergusonite structures in the high-pressure phase of PbWO4.
