Simultaneous measurement of strain and temperature based on fiber sensor with Vernier effect

Li Zhao et al.

Summary: A fiber sensor based on Vernier effect is proposed for simultaneous temperature and strain measurement. The sensor consists of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and a Fabry-Perot interferometer. By utilizing the different response of the two interferometers, the sensor achieved simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain.

High sensitivity relative humidity sensor based on two parallel-connected Fabry-Perot interferometers and Vernier effect

Yuan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly sensitive relative humidity sensor based on two Fabry-Perot interferometers in parallel with the Vernier effect was designed and demonstrated. The sensor showed improved sensitivity due to the Vernier effect. Experimental results showed that the RH sensitivity of the sensor is up to -586.6 pm/% RH, which is 17.3 times that of a single FPI sensor without the Vernier effect. The sensor also possessed the advantages of simple manufacturing, robust structure, and stable operation.

In-fiber Fabry-Perot temperature sensor using silicone-oil-filled the quartz capillary tube

Xiping Zhu et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive temperature sensor based on a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) filled with silicone oil was designed and demonstrated. The sensor has the advantages of simple manufacturing, good robustness, and stability. The high thermo-optical coefficient of the silicone oil results in a significant wavelength shift of the reflection spectrum, providing the sensor with high sensitivity. The temperature sensitivity of the sensor reaches -0.4102 nm/℃, which is about 205.1 times higher than that of the unfilled sensor. The compact size of the sensor head allows for flexible use in limited space and harsh environments.

Microbubble-based optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor for simultaneous high-pressure and high-temperature sensing

Yong Hu et al.

Summary: An all-silica Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) based on a microbubble is proposed for high-pressure and high-temperature measurements. The microbubble-based air cavity is fabricated using a hollow silica tube and a single-mode optical fiber for pressure sensing. The sensor exhibits linear wavelength shift versus pressure and high temperature sensitivity, making it suitable for simultaneous high-pressure and high-temperature measurements in harsh environments.
