Longitudinal strain with speckle-tracking echocardiography predicts electroanatomic substrate for ventricular tachycardia in nonischemic cardiomyopathy patients

Siddharth J. Trivedi et al.

Summary: Regional abnormalities in LS are predictive of scar location in NICM patients, with a strong linear correlation between endocardial GLS and endocardial bipolar scar percentage in the first two groups, and between midmyocardial GLS and unipolar scar percentage. In the third group, epicardial regional LS and GLS correlated with epicardial bipolar scar percentage.

Fast Strain-Encoded Cardiac Magnetic Resonance for Diagnostic Classification and Risk Stratification of Heart Failure Patients

Grigorios Korosoglou et al.

Summary: This study compared the ability of fast-strain encoded magnetic resonance cardiac magnetic resonance to classify and risk stratify patients with different stages of chronic heart failure. The percentage of normal myocardium was found to be a better predictor of heart failure stages and outcomes compared to left ventricular ejection fraction.

Electrophysiologic and imaging evidence for an occult myopathic substrate in patients with idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias*

Summary: The study aimed to assess for cardiomyopathic substrate in patients with idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias and found subtle CMR and electrophysiologic changes similar to that seen in patients with presumed cardiomyopathy.

Improved Risk Stratification for Ventricular Arrhythmias and Sudden Death in Patients With Nonischemic Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Andrea Di Marco et al.

Summary: In this study, delayed gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was found to be a significant, consistent, and strong predictor of ventricular arrhythmias (VA) or sudden death in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). A new clinical algorithm integrating LGE and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) significantly improved risk stratification, with relevant implications for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator allocation.

Myocardial Substrate Characterization by CMR T1 Mapping in Patients With NICM and No LGE Undergoing Catheter Ablation of VT

Daniele Muser et al.

Summary: The study aimed to characterize the relationship between DF, EAM substrate, and outcomes of catheter ablation of VT in NICM patients. It found that DF estimated using post-contrast T-1 mapping correlates with voltage abnormality at EAM and likely impacts post-ablation outcomes.
