Plasmonic Chiral Metamaterials with Sub-10 nm Nanogaps

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: Sub-10 nm nanogaps with tailored chiroptical responses were fabricated between two nanocrescents through nanoskiving, breaking mirror symmetry with subsequent deposition. Strong plasmonic coupling excited in the gaps and at the tips lead to circular dichroism activity. The chiral nanogaps can recognize specific cysteine enantiomers and show potential in various chiral applications.

Elastic behavior of anisotropic coatings sputter-deposited at oblique incidence

Elia Zgheib et al.

Summary: In this study, a model specifically developed for the Impulse Excitation Technique (IET) was used to determine the elasticity constants of anisotropic thin films deposited by magnetron sputtering. The anisotropic behavior of the films was evaluated for different glancing angles, showing changes in elasticity constants due to the angle variations.
