Cortical thinning and associated connectivity changes in patients with anorexia nervosa

Feliberto de la Cruz et al.

Summary: Structural and functional brain abnormalities in patients with anorexia nervosa are localized to specific regions and networks involved in visuospatial and somatosensory processing. Changes in cortical thickness and functional connectivity, particularly in the precuneus, are associated with nutritional and functional states in AN. Further longitudinal research is needed to explore the relationship between precuneus changes and the evolution of the disorder.

Cortical Thickness, Volume, and Surface Area in the Motoric Cognitive Risk Syndrome

Helena M. Blumen et al.

Summary: Individuals with MCR have lower overall cortical thickness, particularly in regions associated with human locomotion, social, cognitive, affective, and motor functions. Cortical atrophy in MCR is easier to detect in thickness than volume and surface area due to its sensitivity to aging processes.
